Happy 2009, more sleep and new routines

Our new years resolution: Get more sleep! We've changed our sleeping routine up a bit and it seems to be working. I haven't felt this rested in 2 years! Not only is everyone sleeping better, they are all on the same schedule for the first time ever! Coby is no longer napping in the morning, he's too busy for that. I've had to make a few changes to our routine in order to manage these 3 extremely active toddlers. We now leave the house each morning by 9am, come back for lunch and naps around noon and spend the afternoon playing at home, or a walk to the park if its nice out. Then it's bedtime for Coby at 6:00pm, and the girls go down around 7:00-7:30. The hour after Coby goes to bed and the before the girls go down is major clean the house time. And then at 7:30 the house is clean and quiet, and Jake and I can relax. The girls have been sleeping till 8:00am or later lately. Regardless of when Coby wakes up he gets out of bed at 7:00am. (His new sleeping schedule has made a huge difference in the amount of sleep everyone gets around here). Sometimes he sleeps later, and sometimes he's up early, but if he gets up earlier than 7 he's happy to lie in his crib and play with his blanket. I've been sleeping downstairs in the basement with the fan on and no baby monitor. (Love it). I usually wake up around 7 and then Coby and I have about an hour to chill out before the girls wake up and the chaos begins all over again. It's amazing how much more energy I have had this past week now that I can sleep 8 hours straight without waking up several times a night. I've spent the last 2 weeks trying to find stuff for us to do each morning. It's been hard for me to find activities that I can do with 3 of them at the same time. Most of the mommy and me classes are designed for mommy and me, or maybe mommy and me and me, but very few are manageable with mommy and me and me and me. :) Starting next week we have signed up for for 2 new gymnastics classes that I am hoping are a little less structured than the one I take the girls to now. We have found a few indoor play parks at community centers, storytime, OMSI, and I'm trying to schedule a play date at least once a week. I really like our new schedule, things are going well and the kids seem to enjoy all of their new activities and I can't even believe how well they have all been sleeping lately. It's amazing. I think 2009 is going to be a good year for us. No major changes, like moving cross country or buying a house. Things are starting to get more routine with the kiddos and Jake and I are actually getting some sleep. It's amazing what almost 2 years of sleep deprivation will do to you. :) I had just gotten used to walking around 1/2 dazed with a constant headache. But now I have energy! The house is clean(er), the laundry is done, the kids are happy and I feel great.

Here are a few things I'm looking forward to in 2009.

Some SUNSHINE
Stroller walks to the Park
Learning how to use my new camera(it's still in the box)
Learning how to sail(hopefully this summer)
Starting to exercise regularly
Getting more organized
Anna's wedding (Chloe and Taylor will be her flower girls, cute cute!)
A new niece(my brother and his wife are due in April)
Fixing up the backyard for Summer
Taylor and Chloe's first day of school
Having two 3 year olds and a 2 year old
First hair cuts for all 3 kids
Thinking about adding to our family(just thinking about it) :)

Say Cheese!!!

"Wow great shot Taylor!"

this sounds blissful. . . i can't believe after all of this hard work you're even THINKING ABOUT thinking about adding to your family. i hope by "adding to our family" you meant getting a hamster :) You seem to handle it all with grace, hamsters have really small poops. . . so i don't think it would change your life too much :)

The kids look happy and its wonderful to hear that you're on track for some obviously overdue rest! A happy mommy makes for a happy household and don't let anyone there forget it! ;0)

I'm so glad you are getting more sleep. I've been cheated out of some sleep this last week and sheesh, it really makes a difference in the day.

I totally know what you mean about sleep deprivation. We were on the 2 years without sleep mark too and then we got that break before coming here and we were so freaking rested it was scary. I mean my mind was so sharp, we finally remembered where all the stuff we'd been looking for was and stuff like that. Isn't it amazing. I hope it lasts for all of us. Also, I went to a place called Little Clippers for haircuts for Priya and she loved it, they can sit in cars, planes, etc. and watch DVDs. Just do a search on goggle and it'll come up.
Happy 2009.
