Taylor and Chloe have both slept with a cloth diaper since they were about 9 months old. They call these chewy's. We have about 2 dozen of them. It is so much nicer than having a special doll or blanket because I can always find one when I need one. Chloe will take any cloth diaper, Taylor on the other hand has special chewy's she calls "licky chewy's. A licky chewy is a chewy that has a ribbon down the center of it. The ribbon is only sewn on one side so it sticks up. She likes to lick in between the ribbon and the diaper. This is how she gets herself to sleep at night. I have tried to find more of these, but I think they must have been a mistake because they don't sell them anywhere. We originally had a dozen of them but now we're down to about 6. A few months ago she started identifying one of her licky chewy's as "the mommy chewy." She would cry and cry every night until we could find the "mommy chewy." She had to lick each one of her licky chewy's until she found the right one. Jake and I have tried for months to distinguish the mommy chewy from the rest of the licky chewy's with no luck. AND finally I figured it out!! The mommy chewy is the filthiest and dirtiest of all the licky chewy's. My question is is it called the mommy chewy because she loves it the most out of all the chewys or is it because it's dirty and stinky?? :) Below is a picture of her mommy chewy. It is supposed to be all white. Eww, gross!!

This story is so funny!! And she is going to die one day to know she used to LICK a cloth diaper to get to sleep....LOL.
That is scary about the house and lead paint/dust! I am glad you are enjoying your time with your parents though:)
When is the baby due? You REALLY need to do a post about the pregnancy you know:)
laughing so hard right now. I love how they rationalize things.
licking the chewy is definitely weird . . . but then so is Josie and her blankie. Her thing for comfort is to smell it while she sucks her thumb. She breathes it in so hard is makes a little sucking noise as it adheres to her nose.
One time she shoved it in my face and told me to smell it. That thing only gets washed once a week-so EWWW! not sure what the attraction is.
Who would have thought 12 werent' enough?! So sweet & funny. Alea has her bunny, we wash it regularly but even her 7yr old cousin commented on the yucky smelly brown/pink bunny. That's quite an upheaval having to move out of the house, how did you discover the problem?
